DESCRIPTION
System for obtaining a vehicle with convertible body Field of the invention
The present invention pertains to the devices for transforming the body of a vehicle with closed body configuration to another with a convertible or cabriole body configuration. More specifically, the present invention is framed as a removable roof system to discover the interior of a car vehicle.
State of the art
A multi-purpose vehicle is a closed body car with two or four side doors, which offers at least four seats. A convertible or cabriole is a car vehicle equipped with a fixed windshield, equipped with doors without a top frame and with a flexible roof made of textile or folding rigid material, which can be removed by discovering the interior of the vehicle.
There are different systems to discover the interior of a motor vehicle, either based on a manually or mechanically removable canvas hood, or based on a rigid material roof system, which by means of a kinematic drive is able to discover the interior, hiding from Turn into the trunk of the vehicle.
Car manufacturers often offer convertible versions of their multipurpose models or saloons. While solutions based on a removable canvas roof have been consolidated as a basic option to achieve a transformable vehicle in a simple way, systems with a retractable rigid roof have emerged with the purpose of solving some of the deficiencies associated with canvas roofs.
The roof systems of textile material generally have worse resistance to the passage of time (tissue discoloration, possible tears or burns), worse thermal and acoustic insulation for occupants of the room, and greater insecurity sensation, compared to a vehicle of closed body.

The available systems of rigid retractable roof offer durability, insulation and sense of security, with the roof arranged above the room, superior to the canvas systems, and comparable to those of a vehicle with a fully enclosed body.
The following documents related to the present invention are noteworthy:
Patents DE 10 2006 0007 636 and EP 1 826 049 describe rigid retractable roof systems divided into one or two parts respectively, which allow changing the configuration of a completely closed body vehicle to a completely convertible body. The technique to discover the interior is based on the introduction of the rigid roof of the vehicle in the trunk of the trunk, through a tilting door arranged behind the interior, by actuating a mechanism that rotating the Pillars C of the vehicle on its own base , introduce the folded assembly inside the trunk. Likewise, US 2 623 779 proposes a retractable roof system driven by hydraulic or pneumatic means, which is capable of reducing the length of the roof of the vehicle prior to storage in a chest in front of the trunk of the vehicle.
The characteristics associated with the folding system described in patents DE 10 2006 0007 636 and EP 1 826 049 have the following serious drawbacks for the transformation of a multi-purpose vehicle into a vehicle with convertible to convertible bodywork: since the roof assembly is formed for a single element, or two at most, the length of the assembly to be housed within the body of the vehicle requires the provision of a considerable volume that, to the extent that said volume is to be taken from the trunk to house the folded assembly, implies a notable loss of habitability in the rear seats of the vehicle. Also, since the folding system is based on the rotation of the assembly on the "Pillars C", the design of the roof-pillar assembly is strongly conditioned to an arc-like geometry that may differ from the silhouette of the original model on which it is based The convertible version Similarly, US 2 623 779, even allowing the reduction of the volume occupied by the folded roof assembly, does not perform a functional separation of the roof length reduction system, with respect to the system for storing the set folded in the room, which is carried out thanks to the same hydraulic or pneumatic mechanism, which connects the room and vehicle through the "Pillars C." This fact strongly conditions the design of the vehicle roof, and therefore, the own vehicle design as a whole, forcing, again, a body with arc geometry, in which despite the

reduction of the length of the folded assembly, its disposition in a chest before the trunk, reduces, in a non-negligible way, the habitability of the vehicle.
There is no known self-retractile rigid roof system to achieve a convertible version from a multipurpose model in which the folding system does not damage the habitability of the vehicle or severely condition the design of the body and the roof itself.
Therefore, the need to design a system that reduces the length of the rigid roof by means of mechanisms and guide systems arranged on the roof itself has been detected, without the need for additional support elements that seriously condition its geometry, and that can be folded in such a way that it does not require the provision of a volume that invades part of the room conceived for the model from which the convertible version is derived, maintaining its habitability, and therefore, a good part of its initial polyvalent characteristics.
Description of the invention
The present invention presents a solution for the problems of loss of habitability and conditioning of the external design of the vehicle associated with the current rigid roof systems used to obtain a convertible vehicle from a multipurpose model.
In what follows from the description the terms "front" or "rear" should be considered in relation to the front or rear of the vehicle, the term "length" should be considered according to the direction from the front to the rear and the term "width" should be considered in a direction perpendicular to the length.
The invention can be considered as a system for obtaining a vehicle with a convertible body composed of two subsystems: a folding roof subsystem and a subsystem for the proper descent and placement of the folded roof.
The folding roof subsystem comprises at least two partitions that have sliding and guiding means that, during the process of length reduction or folding, allow each partition to move under (or over) the immediately preceding partition

advancing from the front to the rear, being in a substantially parallel position and close to each other without requiring for this movement the contest of support elements from the vehicle body.
This feature allows advantageously that the B-pillars or central pillars of the vehicle can be eliminated as their support is not necessary, favoring the total conversion to a completely convertible body.
At the end of the length reduction phase there is a horizontal, folded and compact set, the length of which will be equivalent to that of a single partition, or that of the partition of greater length in case all have not been arranged with the same length, connected to the body of the vehicle through the subsystem for descent.
The subsystem for the descent structurally connects the folding roof subsystem with the vehicle body and is characterized by allowing the folding subsystem to move until the assembly is completely folded in a horizontal position on the trunk volume, so that the front part of the folding subsystem is placed behind the rear seats of the vehicle interior, and the rear part on the rear part of the trunk of the vehicle being able to protrude from it. The connection system between the subsystems is characterized by allowing relative movement between the two in such a way that it can be placed in a safe position for the possible occupants of the room, as well as, for placement in the appropriate position on the top of the trunk.
The concealment of the remaining elements of the body of the multipurpose model, such as windows, rear window, or rear pillars corresponding to the rear window, to achieve a completely convertible configuration of the vehicle, is not part of the present invention as there is a large number of possible configurations, which will require in each case a specific solution.
Therefore, the present invention relates to a system for obtaining a vehicle with a convertible body where the system comprises a folding roof subsystem comprising at least two partitions having sliding and guiding means and a subsystem for lowering the subsystem. folding roof, comprising telescopic means where one end of the telescopic means is attached to the body of the vehicle and the second end to a partition of the roof of the vehicle.

In a preferred materialization the partitions are at least two successive partitions of increasing width from the front to the rear (or the reverse).
In a preferred materialization, the sliding and guiding means are located on both sides of the partitions and comprise complementary gwas and slides.
In a preferred embodiment, the telescopic means are two telescopic rods that are attached at one end to the interior of the trunk and at the other end to the inner face of the rear partition of the roof. In a more preferred materialization the union of the telescopic rods to the inner face of the rear partition of the roof is carried out by means of a sliding and fastening element that allows the relative movement between the two, to delay the roof, to a safe position for the occupants of the room during the descent, and the placement of the folded roof, on the upper surface of the trunk, following the rear seats. In a particular materialization, the sliding and clamping element is embodied in a plate that slides on a slide.
Finally, it is worth highlighting the favorable context for the fabrication of the proposed invention, based on the current state of the art in manufacturing processes based on high power laser technology. In this way, both laser cutting processes, as well as surface treatments for the improvement of mechanical properties, would allow, in a convenient way, the manufacture of each of the subdivisions that make up the folding roof, given its geometry, both in mass production processes, as in custom processes for the conversion of the body of a vehicle already manufactured. Likewise, the recent advances in the field of additive manufacturing technologies with metallic and polymeric materials using laser technology constitute, additionally, an application field for the realization of different functional prototypes, as well as a potential source for the industrial manufacturing of vehicles equipped with the decapping system proposed in the present invention

Figure 6 is a detail of the joint between the folding roof subsystem and the subsystem for lowering and positioning.
Detailed description of the invention
As mentioned above, the present invention relates to a system for obtaining a vehicle with a convertible body where the system comprises a folding roof subsystem comprising at least two partitions (1), which have sliding and guiding means (2 ) on the sides and a subsystem for the descent of the folding roof subsystem, comprising telescopic means (3) where one end of the telescopic means (3) is attached to the body of the vehicle and the second end to a partition (1.3) of the roof of the vehicle.
A preferred embodiment of a vehicle equipped with the system of the invention is shown in Figures 1-6, where a multipurpose vehicle has a folding roof subsystem consisting by way of example of three partitions (1), front partition (1.1 ), central partition (1.2) and rear partition (1.3), with increasing width and length from the front to the rear, and where the partitions (1) have sliding and guiding means (2).
The lateral area of the vehicle is closed by the windows and the doors or fins of the vehicle, the front by the windshield and the front pillars corresponding to the windshield arc and the rear by the window and the corresponding pillars, completely covering the room in configuration of closed body.
Figure 5 shows an enlarged view of the sliding and guiding means (2) proposed by way of example that allows the fastening of consecutive partitions (1) of the ceiling, as well as the displacement of the front partition (1.1) under the central (1.2), and of

these two, in turn under the rear (1.3), by introducing the guide associated with the partition to be moved, on the slide associated with the successive partition, which will house the partition that moves, following the direction front part rear of the vehicle.
The subsystem for the descent, is represented by way of example by means of the telescopic rods (3), which connect the subsystem for the descent with the vehicle body, and, thanks to its telescopic function, allow the descent of the folded assembly, as illustrated in Figures 3, 4 and 5, to position it on the top of the trunk, following the rear seats of the cabin.
Figure 6 shows an example of a joint mechanism between the subsystems for the descent and the folding roof subsystem, anchored to the internal faces of the rear partition (1.3), which allows the attachment by telescopic rods (3) of the ceiling , and the relative movement between the two, to delay the roof, to a safe position for the occupants of the room during the descent, and the placement of the folded roof, on the upper surface of the trunk, next to the rear seats. The sliding and clamping element (4) moves until the folded roof is positioned in the proper position during the descent and on the upper surface of the trunk.
The rear partition (1.3) must have larger side faces, so that when it is in a position to house its front partitions, they do not interfere with the descent subsystem itself.
Figure 4 shows the vehicle in a completely convertible body configuration, with the folded roof (1) placed next to the rear seats of the room, without reducing its volume.
